I was born into a Vaishnava family and spent most of my life in Vrindavan (Mathura U.P). I have always been interested in Painting and I learnt ‘on the job’ from an early age by helping many artists with projects ranging from paintings to sculptures for Temples in India and around the world. I have always loved Vedic Art and Culture, learning and then Teaching Odissi dance and after marrying I began to do voluntary work with our local community in Vrindavan teaching Traditional Art, Odissi Dance and organizing religious festivals and plays. The main thrust of my art is to be pure and true to the various forms of divinity I paint. I do this by painting the actual form of the Deity rather than conjuring an idea from my own mind. This is why I absolutely love realism! I try my best to be ‘real’ in my artistic expression, by bringing out the inner mood of the Deity or the lila/pastime, through my paintings.
