A painting style born out of the American art movement in the 1950s by artists was called the abstract Expressionism. Its characterised by bold brushwork, a spontaneous process and larger than life works of art, Abstract Expressionism is fuelled by an emotional and expressive approach. Abstract Expressionism was aimed to give abstract form to some big themes – including fear, hope, desire, transcendence etc.
